Children's Corner was written by Claude Debussy, a French composer who lived from 1862-1918. Published in 1908, The set is dedicated to Debussy's daughter, Claude-Emma (known to him as "Chou-Chou"), who was only three years old at the time. The pieces are not intended to be played by children; rather they are meant to be evocative of childhood and some of the toys in Claude-Emma's toy collection. Claude-Emma was described as a lively and friendly child who was adored by her father, and these pieces definitely evoke that!
